Sea cliffs are high-risk elements in the Mediterranean area due to the diffused landslide processes that affect sites of touristic relevance as well as buildings which are part of the cultural heritage. The Favignana Island (Sicily, Italy) represents a significant case study as several sea cliffs located in its eastern part are involved in landslide processes where porous carbonate grainstones overlying plastic clay deposits widely outcrop (Falconi et al. , 2015). More in particular, the western sector of Cala Rossa Bay was selected as a test site as its geological setting predisposes a large lateral spreading responsible for instabilities of the sea cliff, associated to falls and topples of different-size rock blocks. 56 GNGTS 2015 S essione 3.2
