GNGTS 2021 S essione 3.1 394 Conclusions Occurrence of kerogen in source rocks can be detected qualitatively with several geophysical methods: compressional impedance inversion, AVO, seismic frequency attributes. Quantitative estimation of TOC content can presently be done only using compressional impedance by inversion. A method for inverting impedance from seismic data where well impedance is replaced by rock physics constraints has been developed with promising results. Ambiguity still exists in establishing a relationship between TOC content and compressional impedance, since very few data have been published about the acoustic and viscoelastic properties of kerogen.
