GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 3.2 ___ GNGTS 2023 Figure 1. Hydraulic model of an ice-rich rock glacier. The model has been realized considering the results of geochemical analyses carried out on the spring water emerging downslope different rock glaciers (e.g., Giardino et al. 1992; Krainer et al., 2007; Carturan et al., 2016; Harrington et al., 2018; Brighenti et al., 2021). In this work, we verified the hydraulic behavior of the frozen layer in a rock glacier environment for the first time with a geophysical method, by performing an infiltration experiment combined with electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) time-lapse measurements. The survey has been carried out on the inactive rock glacier of Sadole (Southern Alps, North-East Italy – Fig.2A) and it represents the first attempt to adopt this geophysical monitoring technique to a mountain permafrost environment.
