GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 3.3 ______ ___ GNGTS 2023 available in the SB zone, it can also be noted that the salt diapirs tend to reach the seabed towards the north, while they tend to be less thick but deeper towards the south. For these reasons, we filtered the points according to the data analysis performed: thus, we determined the maximum and minimum values for the different zones and eliminated the points with values that fell outside of them (Fig. 2b). We finally created the definitive extrapolated map, with the convergent interpolation algorithm and with a 5x5 grid. Fig. 2 - a) seismic line in the Sardo-Provençal Basin with detailed interpretation of the Plio-Quaternary base/top of the salt diapirs; b) points obtained from the interpretation are aligned along the profiles, while other points are randomly generated: in red the ones subsequently eliminated by filtering; c) the histogram shows the time-depth distribution of the points interpreted from the seismic lines (purple), randomly generated (red), filtered (green) and obtained by merging interpreted and filtered (light blue). Note equal distribution in time-depth of the randomly generated and filtered points. The main results of the elaboration are shown in Fig. 3: they are maps of the base of the Plio-Quaternary and consequently of the distribution of salt domes. The smoothed map of the Plio-Quaternary base (Fig. 3a, e) was obtained by interpreting the available seismic lines and trying to average the depth of the top and bottom of the salt diapirs,
