GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 1.1 GNGTS 2023 SARDINIA FABER: a Far Field Geophysical observatory at the Sos Enattos (NU) mine C. Giunchi, M. Olivieri, I. Molinari, F. Di Felice Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia SARDINIA FABER will be a new high standard geophysical observatory located at the Sos Enattos Mine (Nuoro, Italy). The project is developed under the recently approved PNRR project MEET led by INGV. Its name stands for Far Field Observatory recalling the fact that the mine has proven to be a unique place in terms of low seismic noise, located far from any anthropogenic and natural source of disturbance. We aim at installing different types of geophysical instruments such as very broadband seismometers, gravimeter, strainmeters, magnetometer plus the complementary equipment as microbarometer, wind meters and meteorological stations. Such high-quality and high standard data will be fundamental to record weak geophysical signals from the Earth system which are not clearly detected by the usual instruments The nearby area is also one of the candidates for hosting the Einstein Telescope and it is the site of different experiments by INFN as Archimedes and SarGrav. We will present the site, the project and the expected geophysical outcomes of the project whose data will be shared with the geophysical community in a FAIR and open data approach.
