Session 1.1 GNGTS 2023 The relation in the GP implies a predominance of intrinsic attenuation over the < 1 scattering attenuation . Furthermore the similarity between and allows us to attribute a 1 ( ) new physical significance to 3D-maps proposed by Filippucci et al. (2021b). In particular, the high anomaly, found by Filippucci et al. (2021b) in the northern GP up to 24 km depth, is well correlated with other independent geophysical results (Loddo et al., 1997) and could be now interpreted as a volume of crust characterized by very low seismic damping produced by conversion of seismic energy into heat. Moreover, at all the depths, the most part of earthquake foci falls in areas characterized by high , indicating lower level of anelastic damping and a brittle behavior of rocks, confirming the results obtained by Lavecchia et al. (2022). The comparison between the results of this study and those previously obtained worldwide reveals that the GP values of seismic quality factors and are within the end members at all frequencies.
