GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale
Session 1.1 GNGTS 2023 phase and its release during earthquakes (Avouac, 2015). We finally analyze the sensitivity of the estimates on the parameters used as input of the approach. Fig. 2: Contouring map of the distribution of the second invariant of the geodetic strain rate field (I2) and independent seismicity from CLASS catalog. The outer gray polygon defines the study region within which the declustering of the seismic catalog is performed. Both lines and dots are colored according to the intervals of I2 and the last interval doesn’t have an upper limit ( ≥ 45 nstr/yr). The overall analysis relies on some challenging steps. The earthquake catalog analysis, the definition of the seismogenic thickness for seismic events and the fraction of moment released aseismically have a fundamental impact on the results. On the other hand, the choice of an appropriate strain rate model and the partition into different strain rate domains are not straightforward to address but are determinant in assessing the relationship between strain rates and seismicity rates. We will present preliminary results of this study.
