GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 1.2 GNGTS 2023 Thomson–Haskell propagator algorithm, firstly implemented in the famous parent code EDGRN ∕ EDCMP (Wang et al., 2003). Figure 1. Conceptual model of a TPE source region (yellow). The upward migration of previously trapped fluids of magmatic origin (white bubbles) from the underlying partially molten material (orange) is accompanied by high p , T changes within the TPE source. Modified after Belardinelli et al. (2022). Discussion and Conclusions TPE deformation sources allow us to estimate deformation and stress fields due to the presence of hot and pressurised fluids. Differently from pressurised cavities (e.g. the Mogi, 1958 model), they have a strong deviatoric stress inside them so that they can explain significant deformations and seismicity in environments in which there are no evidences of shallow large magmatic bodies. Often, the presence of heterogeneity of focal mechanisms in volcanological environments is ascribed to the stress changes induced by magmatic sources of deformation. TPE inclusions allow us to explain a heterogeneous distribution of fault mechanism as simply due to changes of pore-pressure and temperature within a localised region at depth.
