Session 2.2 GNGTS 2023 Invited lecture Objectives and organization of the Extended Partnership RETURN - multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate Andrea Prota a,b a University of Naples Federico II, Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture, Naples, Italy b President of the RETURN foundation, Naples, Italy On December 1 st 2022 the extended partnership EP RETURN - multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate - started and was official kicked-off at the University of Naples Federico II, that is the entity coordinating the project, denominated HUB, at national level. The EP RETURN involves 26 entities, including 13 Public Universities and Public Research Institutions (EPR), 1 Governmental Entity (the Italian Civil Protection Department), 2 Territorial Agencies, 10 Private Entities; the latter includes 3 research centres or foundations, 1 private University and 6 Private Companies; a total number of 348 researchers are officially involved as staff personnel to carry out the research activities of this Extended Partnership RETURN, that is created with respect to the theme “Environmental, natural and anthropogenic risks”, is a very ambitious 3 years project. With the aim to respond to new challenges proposed by the National Research Plan (PNR) objectives and priorities, RETURN has as scientific objectives to achieve a better understanding of Environmental, Natural and Anthropic Risks, as well as their interrelation with the effect of climate change effects, to enhance risk prevision and methodologies for prevention, adaptation and mitigation, to develop new
