Session 2.2 GNGTS 2023 Finder application for Android devices), the algorithms and criteria defined by experts and implemented in the VISUS Finder automatically calculate VISUS results for the surveyed school. Fig. 1: Overview of the VISUS methodology and of its main steps for implementation. One of the peculiarities of the VISUS methodology is that it adopts a graphical language to facilitate and expedite the collection of substantial information (which is called OBS, i.e. “observable”) during the inspection of learning facilities. The outcomes of VISUS are: the VISUS graphical indicators, which summarise the situation of each school; the individual reports for each school, with a technical description and the survey photos; the collective report summarising all the results; a web-map; and a database with the VISUS survey and outcome data. The VISUS graphical indicators (Fig. 2) have been designed to reflect the multi-hazard and multi-dimensional aspects of the methodology, and, at the same time, to provide a rapid overview of the situation. They are described in detail in Grimaz & Malisan, 2019b). All the outcomes of the VISUS methodology enable decision-makers to develop various safety upgrading strategies, based on decision-maker's criteria. For example, it could be possible to prioritize schools depending on the number of safety stars and on the exposure to specific hazards or by physical vulnerability. This allows to identify also multiple action plans, that could be compared, considering for example the required resources.
