GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 2.3 GNGTS 2023 highlight continuities and changes in the urban landscape of places affected by destructive earthquakes. An equally important attention is given to the descriptive elements of the sources concerning author, date, and type of image, included as metadata associated with each image. The structuring of the data has been designed keeping in mind the possible developments of the portal and foreseeing the inclusion of other types of visual sources, such as historical videos. In this regard, work is in progress to include both the film sources of the 23 July 1930, Irpinia earthquake and the aerial footage of some 20th-century events, held in important national archives with which specific collaboration agreements have been established. The CFTIvisual intends to address the widest possible audience: from individual citizens, fulfilling an important informative and educational function, to various scientific and technical fields, and can provide evidence-based support for decision-making in civil protection. Acknowledgements Part of activities of technological development and data reorganization that led to CFTIvisual has been supported by a grant from Italy’s Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri-Dipartimento della Protezione Civile. Nevertheless, the views and conclusions reported are the sole responsibility of its authors, and should not be interpreted as necessarily representing official policies, either expressed or implied, of the Dipartimento della Protezione Civile.
