GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale
Session 2.3 GNGTS 2023 (e) (f) Fig. 3. a,b) Vulnerability maps for the two areas; c,d) damage scenarios for a seismic event with a return period equal to 475 years; e) damage histograms for the mean values of both villages considering earthquakes with return period equal to 50 and 475 years respectively; f) fragility curves for the mean values. The damage scenarios of Fig. 3 highlight the presence of structures subjected to heavy damage (D4) in case of certain seismic event. Although the limits of such rapid procedures, the outcomes of the research point out a variability which is given by the building characteristics. Complexly, the seminar has allowed through a three-days experience the evaluation of 98 distinct structural units combined into 37 structural aggregates. The results of the site activities have been later presented and discussed into a final symposium host by the municipality. Citizens and technicians have been invited, and the outcomes of the work have been shown. In this context, the presentation of the results is important for several reasons: Citizens and technicians can become aware of the potential damage that the houses of these two villages can suffer, being stimulating at operating towards strengthening interventions. It is worth noting that the research has been conducted while the Italian government promoted tax benefits to mitigate the vulnerability of constructions (the so-called Sismabonus and the Superbonus), therefore, the current project goes in that direction; The municipality can deal with damage scenarios useful for the emergency management, planning the accesses of the villages and the escape patchs after a mainshock. Due to the governance aims of the administration, the latter could still promote further upgrades of the work, targeted at executing more refined evaluations or to extend the study to different realities into the territory. The seminar experience has pointed out stimulating outcomes both related to the citizen awareness as to the preparation of the future technicians dealing with the seismic risk. Specific territorial maps with vulnerability indexes and damage scenarios can stimulate administrators and citizens to understand what is at stake, in terms of human, economic, tangible, and intangible losses. On the other side, the activity has represented a moment for architectural students of
