GNGTS 2023 - Atti del 41° Convegno Nazionale

Session 3.1 - POSTER GNGTS 2023 Fig. 2 – Seismic line from VIDEPI. The orange-green horizons show the transition from the Mio-Cretaceous carbonatic platform to the Miocene siliciclastics. The Latium-Abruzzi platform represents a Mesozoic paleogeographic domain interested by thrusting associated to the Apennines fold-and-thrust-belt emplacement, with an evident Late Pliocene to Holocene normal and strike slip faulting system, Conclusions. The analyses of the preliminary results highlight some areas characterized by heat temperatures values in correspondence of the: Bracciano and Bolsena Lake, Viterbo city, in the south-western coastal area of Rome, and close to the Campi Flegrei and Vesuvium zones. Some minor geothermal areas could be correlated to volcanic bodies in southern Latium with a heat flow in the range of 40-100 mW/mq. In the southern Latium, some structural carbonate highs were interpreted and identified at 1000 and 2000 meters of depth. The first ongoing step of the geothermal potential evaluation requires calculating the initial heat in place (HIP) (Muffler and Cataldi, 1978), related to the reference volume of the geological structure, and to calculate values from the available database. The technical potential will be estimated, assuming a value for the recovery factor, the efficiency and the life span of geothermal plants. To overcome the uncertainty related to the reservoir parameters, a deterministic approach could be integrated with a probabilistic method, which produces not a single value but a distribution of values (max – mean – min) of the technical potential.
