Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way we observe, interpret, and understand the Earth. From detecting subtle patterns in geophysical signals to processing and interpreting complex, high-dimensional datasets, AI offers new tools for studying earthquakes and volcanoes, exploring the subsurface, and assessing and reducing disaster risk.

This session brings together applications of AI (e.g. machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, computer vision, large language models) across the topics covered in Sessions 1.1–3.3. We particularly welcome contributions that move beyond conventional workflows, explore emerging approaches, connect different disciplines, or turn research developments into practical tools. Our goal is to create a lively forum for sharing ideas, discussing opportunities and limitations, and exploring how AI can deepen our understanding of our dynamic planet and support disaster prevention and response.
